North Central Florida Festival Continues

The second day of North Central Florida Festival 2002 began bright and early as more than 4,500 children and their chaperones came to see Bibleman (Willie Aames) at the O'Connell Center.
Aames explained to them that although Bibleman was a fictional character, our faith and trust in Jesus Christ is real. After giving the opportunity to come forward to make a decision for Jesus, 690 children and adults registered commitments.
Later in the day, despite the rainy weather, 10,300 people packed into the "O Dome" for "Student Night" of Festival 2002. The evening meeting began with high energy as jubilant young people rushed the stage to better experience the music of special guests Jaci Velasquez and the British band Delirious.
Cheers also erupted when former University of Florida Gator and 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Weurffle took the mic for a live on-stage interview.
Weurffle encouraged his adoring audience: "I've been very blessed as a football player -- I had a lot of blessings come my way. They're great things, but compared to a real, living and loving relationship with Jesus Christ, they count as nothing. Ask yourself if Jesus is drawing you toward His cross -- if He is, I pray that you will have the courage and the commitment to live life in the pursuit of the cross."
Franklin Graham focused his message on Matthew 19, in which Jesus encounters a rich young ruler. Graham pointed out that even though the young man had wealth and power and possessions, he had an emptiness inside of him.
Graham asked the crowd, "What do you love more than Jesus tonight? Whatever comes between you and Jesus is sin. If your life came to an end tonight, would you be ready?"
After Graham gave an invitation for people to come forward to accept Christ into their lives, more than 400 people indicated a decision to commit their lives to Him.
North Central Florida Festival 2002 concludes Sunday with a 4:00 p.m. service, featuring musical guests Kirk Franklin, Nicole C. Mullen and Steve Grace.
