Franklin Graham Event To Be Held at Malvinas Argentinas Stadium in Mendoza, November 14-16

In the coming months, thousands of local volunteers will join together to organize the "Festival de Esperanza" with Franklin Graham in Mendoza at Malvinas Argentinas Stadium, November 14-16, 2002.

"We've delivered relief and aid to Argentina many times, but this visit I look forward to bringing God's message to the area," said Franklin Graham, son of the Rev. Billy Graham. "People will hear a lot of music from award-winning artists, personal testimony, and most importantly, an opportunity to change their life."

Graham, who accepted local church leaders' invitation to lead the event, will bring a message of hope and freedom at the three-day Festival, which will also feature music performances by award-winning artists.

Other Festival of Hope highlights include:

- A Saturday Morning kids event will feature energetic drama and music for children of all ages. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning, November 16.

- While in Argentina, Graham, who is also president of international relief organization Samaritan's Purse, will hand-deliver shoe box gifts to hundreds of underprivileged children in the Mendoza area. The gifts are part of the Samaritan's Purse project Operation Christmas Child, which distributed more than 5 million shoe box gifts (39,000 to children in Argentina) to needy children in more than 100 countries last year.

The "Festival de Esperanza" is a non-denominational effort organized through the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and supported and planned by local church leaders from the Mendoza area. Since 1989, Franklin Graham has held an average of seven Festivals a year as an evangelist for the BGEA. Today, Graham serves the organization as president and CEO and continues to travel the world as president and CEO of the international Christian relief organization Samaritan's Purse.

Last year, Graham, 49, conducted Festivals in San Pedro Sula, Honduras; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Tallahassee, Fla.; Spartanburg, S.C.; and Recife, Brazil, drawing crowds exceeding 370,000.
