Yum! Brands, Inc., the parent company of A&W All American Food, KFC, Long John Silver's, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell today made a grant of $5,000 to the American Indian College Fund.

The award will support ten $500 scholarships to increase the number of American Indian graduates in higher education.

"We would like to express our deepest thanks to Yum! Brands, for supporting our students in achieving their higher education goals," said Richard Williams, president and CEO of the Denver-based nonprofit. "This contribution is an investment in the future of our communities for generations to come."

"Yum! Brands continues to seek opportunities to support the communities we serve, and we believe one of the best ways is through education", says Terrian Barnes, Yum! Brands director of community diversity. "We are proud to partner with The American Indian College Fund because they are helping to shape the future of our emerging leaders."

Yum! Brands, based in Louisville, Kentucky, is the world's largest restaurant company in terms of system units, with nearly 33,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries and territories. Four of the company's restaurant brands - KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Long John Silver's - are the global leaders of the chicken, pizza, Mexican-style food and quick service seafood categories, respectively. Since 1919, A&W All-American Food has been serving a signature frosty mug root beer float and all-American pure-beef hamburgers and hot dogs, making it the longest running quick service franchise chain in America.

With its credo "educating the mind and spirit," the Denver-based American Indian College Fund distributes scholarships and support to 32 tribal colleges across the country. This aid directly supported more than 6,000 students. The Fund also supports endowments and public awareness, as well as college programs in Native cultural preservation and teacher training.
