Gifts In Kind International Receives $150,000 Grant From The UPS Foundation

Alexandria, Va., April 5, 2001 - Gifts In Kind International received a $150,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of United Parcel Service (NYSE: UPS). The grant will be used to assist Gifts In Kind International in donating products, goods and services to community-based health and human services agencies in the United States and around the world.
"This generous grant from The UPS Foundation to Gifts In Kind International will enable us to provide product contributions to thousands of charities worldwide that assist those most critically in need in our society," said Susan Corrigan, president and chief executive officer of Gifts In Kind International.
In 2000, Gifts In Kind International and its 300-plus affiliates worldwide distributed more than half a billion dollars in manufactured products. Initiated in 1983, Gifts In Kind International has distributed approximately $2.5 billion in product donations through its global network of more than 50,000 charities.
The organization has increased in global scope and in the value of goods donated by an average of more than 30 percent each year over the past nine years. More than 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies manage their product-giving programs through Gifts In Kind International, the world's leading charity in product philanthropy.

Founded in 1951 and based in Atlanta, Ga., The UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its support will clearly impact social issues. The foundation's major initiatives currently include programs that support family and workplace literacy, prepared and perishable food distribution, and volunteerism. Corporate grants benefiting organizations or programs such as Gifts In Kind International positively impact communities today.
The UPS Foundation has a unique philanthropic structure that distributed approximately $37 million in 2000 throughout the United States and internationally. Of that, more than $19.1 million was awarded through the Corporate Grant Program, $2.8 million was distributed through the Region/District Grant Program, $8.6 million to United Way and $4.1 million in local charitable giving.
