Gifts In Kind International is teaming up with The Saving Soles Foundation and the United Way of Lake County to hold a Gifts In Kind International TechLearn event to distribute $175,000 thousand worth of technology products to nonprofits in the Chicago and Lake County area on March 12. The event will be held at the United Way in Chicago, from 2-4 pm at 560 W. Lake Street, Chicago, Illinois.

According to Gifts In Kind International's "2000 Technology Tracking Study of the Nonprofit Sector," computer technology and training continues to be the nonprofit sectors most critical product need. In an ongoing effort to help the nonprofit sector achieve the level of technology-readiness determined essential by Gifts In Kind and leaders from the high tech industry Gifts In Kind International's TechLearn program has provided more than $3.5 million in technology product donations to nonprofits in dozens of cities around North America since September 11.

Gifts In Kind International's TechLearn program is expected to bring at least $6 million worth of donated technology to thousands of nonprofits in North America by the end of 2002 to help nonprofits; particularly shelters and other agencies supporting the homeless community receive technology products.

"The events of September 11, 2001 have redefined the scope of the nonprofit sectors' role and the need for a ramped-up state of readiness. Whether during daily routine community services delivery or in times of emergencies nonprofits serve on the front line. Nonprofits must be adequately equipped and technologically healthy in order to serve those in need in their community. Gifts In Kind International and our leading corporate donors are dedicated to helping nonprofits in Chicago and the Lake County area bridge the technology gap," said Susan Corrigan, president and chief executive officer of Gifts In Kind International.
