Be Kind to Animals™ Kid Contest Opens for Nominations

Do you know a child who does exceptional things for animals? Nominate that outstanding kid for the 11th annual Be Kind to Animals Kid™ Contest, brought to you by American Humane and the great tasting Kibbles 'n Bits®, 9Lives®, Pounce®, and Pup-Peroni® pet food and snack brands.

The contest is held annually to honor young people who make outstanding efforts to improve the lives of animals. American Humane looks for kids whose "kindness in action" honors the companionship, friendship, and love animals bring to our lives.

"Kids and pets have always had a special bond," says Todd Lachman, managing director of Del Monte Pet Products, makers of the great tasting Kibbles 'n Bits®, 9Lives®, Pounce® and Pup-Peroni®. "This contest serves as a wonderful way to acknowledge and reward this positive connection and hopefully inspire others to share their love and affection for our furry and feathered friends."

All nominations must be postmarked by April 1, 2004, and must be for children who are between the ages of six and 13 at the time of nomination. Nominees will be divided into two age groups—six to nine, and 10 to 13. One grand prize winner and two runners-up will be selected from each group.

Grand prize winners will each receive a $5,000 award and a fantastic prize package. All winners and runners-up will receive a prize package and will be featured in American Humane press materials and on American Humane's website.

To nominate a young person, you must be 18 or older and be the child's legal guardian or have written permission from the child's legal guardian. No purchase necessary.

The 2004 winners will be announced during American Humane's Be Kind to Animals Week®, May 2 to 8, 2004. American Humane created Be Kind to Animals Week in 1915 as an annual celebration to promote kindness to all animals.
