Founded over 45 years ago as an arm of the Christian Medical Society, MAP (Medical Assistance Programs) moved to its permanent location in Brunswick, Georgia in 1985. Today MAP continues to serve the world with a staff of nearly 100 in our U.S., Kenya, Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador and Bolivia offices, dedicated through their Christian faith to providing health and hope for people living in the world's poorest communities.
MAP also works in partnership programs with over 300 organizations, agencies and medical missions around the world.
Seven out of 10 childhood deaths in developing countries can be attributed to just five preventable causes, or often to a combination of them: pneumonia, diarrhea, measles, malaria and malnutrition. Around the world, three out of every four children seen for health services are suffering from at least one of these conditions. MAP International saves children's lives through immunization and community based health training.
MAP's three-fold mission is to provide essential medicines, prevent and eradicate disease, and promote community health development.
MAP's international programs are eliminating the causes of sickness and disease by providing free medicines and medical care, improving water supplies and food production and establishing community directed health education and training.
